   Each year at this time, I am reminded of how blessed we are for the many ministries and programs—made possible through your support of the Catholic Appeal—that help make our parish a vibrant community of faith.

   In the coming weeks, you will learn more about the Appeal which launches in parishes across the Archdiocese on March 11 and 12. I invite you to pledge your early support by clicking on the donate button above. Your commitment to this important work will help our parish meet its annual goal and will help so many in need.

   Also, I invite you to watch this year's brief Catholic Appeal video that highlights some wonderful ministries that are making a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters. These stories illustrate the impact that Central Ministries has each and every day throughout our Archdiocese.

     We just started the year 2017 and I wanted to take the opportunity to send my greetings with great affection to all the parishioners of our three parishes in collaboration. A new year means a new opportunity to grow in the faith and in the knowledge of the Father who loves us and who gives us the gift of life.
     Next Monday, January 23, we will have a Holy Hour of Adoration in our Collaborative to join the National Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of the Unborn Children. As US Catholics, one of the most important challenges that we face is to defend LIFE in all its stages and conditions. That is why I encourage you to come to this Holy Hour and pray for life in our own country. The US bishops also ask us (especially those who cannot participate in the Holy Hour) to offer an additional prayer, fast or sacrifice as an act of solidarity with those who have not yet been born, and for all people (young or old) whose lives or dignity are at risk, especially those living in poverty.
     This new year coincides with the change of president in our country. We already know that this change has caused lots of worries in many people. The Committee for Social Justice in the three parishes has accepted the challenge of identifying resources and activities that can serve to support justice and peace towards our neighbor, with love and compassion. We are a diverse community, but the spirit of collaboration that is gradually emerging among the three parishes is a great source of hope and blessing for the future. And above all, we count on the love of God that is like a river that takes away all fear and all bitterness, and that always brings new hopes.
     I ask you to pray for us, the priests who serve the three parishes. Especially for the priests who help us with great generosity to serve in the weekly Masses: Msgr. Charlie Bourque, Fr. Bill Foley SJ, Fr. Ken Hughes SJ, Fr. Frank Hermann SJ, Fr. Raul Sáiz SJ, Fr. Peter Gyves SJ, and Fr. Patrick Glavin OFM. Do not forget to pray for our permanent deacons Jesús and José, and for our Jesuit deacons in transition, Alberto and Dan. Without them, the truth is that I do not know how Miguel Angel and I could achieve everything that is required of us. Thank you very much for your support. Let us ask the Lord to give us much hope and faith to believe that He will give us everything we need for the challenges we face.

¡FELIZ AÑO NUEVO!
 
     Acabamos de comenzar el año 2017 y quería enviar un saludo a todos los feligreses de nuestras tres parroquias en colaboración. Un año nuevo significa una nueva oportunidad para crecer en la fe y en el conocimiento del Padre que nos ama y que nos regala el don de la vida.
     El próximo Lunes 23 de Enero tendremos en nuestra Colaborativa una Hora Santa de Adoración para unirnos al Día Nacional de Oración por la Protección Legal de los Niños no Nacidos. Uno de los más importantes retos a los que nos enfrentamos como católicos en los Estados Unidos es defender la VIDA en todas sus etapas y condiciones. Por eso les animo a venir a esta Hora Santa y orar por el respeto a la vida en nuestro propio país. Los obispos estadounidenses piden también (sobre todo las personas que no pudieran participar en la Hora Santa) que el Lunes 23 de Enero ofrezcan una oración adicional, ayuno o sacrificio como un acto de solidaridad con los que aún no han nacido, y por todas las personas (jóvenes o mayores) cuya vida o dignidad están en peligro, especialmente los que viven en la pobreza.
     Este nuevo año coincide con el cambio de presidente en nuestro país. Ya sabemos que este cambio ha provocado mucha incertidumbre en muchas personas. El Comité para la Justicia Social en las tres parroquias ha aceptado el reto de identificar recursos y actividades que puedan servir para apoyar la justicia y la paz hacia nuestro prójimo, con amor y compasión. Somos una comunidad diversa, pero el espíritu de colaboración que está surgiendo poco a poco entre las tres parroquias es una gran fuente de esperanza y de bendición para el futuro. Y por encima de todo, contamos con el amor de Dios que es como un río que se lleva todo el temor y toda la amargura, y que siempre trae nuevas ilusiones.
     Les ruego que oren por nosotros, los presbíteros que servimos a las tres parroquias. En especial, por los sacerdotes que presiden con gran generosidad nuestras misas: Msgr. Charlie Bourque, Fr. Bill Foley SJ, Fr. Ken Hughes SJ, Fr. Frank Hermann SJ, Fr. Raul Sáiz SJ, Fr. Peter Gyves SJ, y Fr. Patrick Glavin OFM. No se olviden de nuestros diáconos permanentes Jesús y José, y de nuestros diáconos jesuitas en transición, Alberto y Dan. Sin ellos, la verdad es que no sé cómo Miguel Ángel y yo podríamos llegar a todo lo que se nos exige. Les agradezco muchísimo su apoyo. Pidamos al Señor que nos dé mucha esperanza y fe para creer que Él nos dará todo lo que necesitamos para los retos que afrontamos.

Please join us at Our Lady of Lourdes parish as we celebrate the Patroness of our Parish on Saturday, February 11 with a solemn bilingual Mass at 5:30pm, followed by coffee and light refreshments.  

During the Mass, we will celebrate a communal Anointing of the Sick for the World Day of the Sick.  If you or a family member would like to be anointed during Mass, please come early to be seated in the front pews.  At the end of the Mass, the priests will be available for a special anointing for those who may need a blessing for good health at this time.  

If you have any relatives or friends who are sick or home bound and would like to be visited by a priest, please call the rectory (617-524-0240) to schedule a visit to receive the Sacraments.
