Shattuck Shelter @ St Thomas Aquinas
Pre-Covid - a group of St. Thomas volunteers would bring and serve dessert to the guests at the Shattuck Shelter on the third Thursday of each month. Currently, during this time of Covid, we drop off desserts outside the shelter. We welcome donations of desserts and/or snacks. Please leave them in the rectory vestibule (the side door to the right of the front door of the rectory) by 5 PM on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
For more information, contact the rectory @ 617-524-0240 or [email protected].
Shattuck Shelter
The Shattuck Shelter is operated by Pine Street Inn. Opened in 1983 by Governor Michael Dukakis, the Shattuck Shelter offers year-round overnight emergency shelter and support for 120 homeless men and women each night. Guests receive two hot meals, showers, clothing, a clean bed, and support from counselors and nursing staff. Shattuck Shelter also provides assistance for guests who are struggling with addiction, legal, financial, mental health and physical issues.
Mission: Pine Street Inn partners with homeless individuals to help them move from the streets and shelter to a home and assists formerly homeless individuals in retaining housing. We provide street outreach, emergency services, supportive housing, job training and connections to employment. We tirelessly advocate for collaborative solutions to end homelessness.
